Malpensa Airport Terminal Guide

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) has two passenger terminals about 6 km apart, and the split is simple: Terminal 2 is easyJet’s, Terminal 1 is everyone else’s. The two are joined by a free shuttle bus and by the Malpensa Express train, and each has its own hotel next door. Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is the main terminal, with three piers: A for Schengen flights, B for non-Schengen European flights and C for long-haul, the last two reached through passport control. Check-in is on the departures level, arrivals on the level below, and the Malpensa Express station, the coach stands and the taxi rank are on the lower levels. The landside halls stay open 24 hours, and the Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel is joined to the terminal by an indoor walkway, so a guest there reaches check-in without going outside. Terminal 1 has the Club SEA lounges (Montale, Pergolesi and Monteverdi), the ZZZleepandGo sleep pods and most of the shops and restaurants.

Terminal 2

Terminal 2, on the northern side of the airport, is used only by easyJet, which makes it one of the busiest low-cost terminals in Europe. It is a single building with its own security, gates for Schengen and non-Schengen flights, the Alda Merini lounge and a train station opened in 2016 on the Malpensa Express line. The Moxy Milan Malpensa Airport stands across the road, about 100 m from the doors, and easyJet passengers staying there walk to check-in.

The free terminal shuttle and the train

The free shuttle bus between the terminals runs 24 hours a day: about every 7 minutes by day and every 30 minutes between 10:45 pm and 5:15 am, with a ride of 10 to 15 minutes. At Terminal 1 it leaves from the stop outside arrivals and at Terminal 2 from the stop by the terminal entrance. The Malpensa Express also links the two stations, a few minutes apart, on its way to and from Milan; a ticket for the short hop is sold at the machines, and the train is the drier choice in bad weather. There is no walking route between the terminals.

The airside areas are separate, so a passenger connecting between an easyJet flight and any other airline collects bags, takes the shuttle or train and clears security again at the other terminal; allow at least two hours.

Hotels by terminal

For Terminal 1, the Sheraton is inside the building and every other hotel on this site reaches it by shuttle or taxi in 5 to 20 minutes.
